Pension Questions? NEA HR Has Answers

In the event of death: NEA Human Resources should be notified as soon as possible after the death of a retiree receiving pension benefits from the Employees’ Retirement Plan of the National Education Association. This will prevent any pension overpayment that could complicate financial matters and allow NEA to process any applicable benefits quickly.

Pension:
Ed Gargurevich – (email: egargurevich@nea.org) | (PH) 202-822-7058

Surai Morris – (email: smorris@nea.org) | (PH) 202-822-7078

Joint & Survivor Benefit: If you retired and elected a Joint & Survivor benefit that pays your beneficiary if you predecease them, you must notify NEA Human Resources if your beneficiary dies before you so that NEA can adjust your pension to the proper amount. If your beneficiary dies before you, your benefit will “popup” to the life annuity amount. Also notify Human Resources if you no longer want a designated individual to be your beneficiary.

Health & Dental:
